Volunteer Transport Service

Volunteer Transport Service

A Short resume of Volunteer Transport Service for People with different conditions living in NHS GG and Clyde area project:-

The Directors have noted travel to therapy appointments, meetings, entertainments or other events organised by participating organisations can be difficult or impossible. This project will use volunteers with their own cars or the Towpath Trust’s own vehicle to provide transport to the venue where the organisation has it’s own event.  By transporting only to recognised venues, the client volunteer relationship can be assessed and any changes of volunteer or vehicle can be made immediately without difficulties arising.  It is hoped that in some cases the volunteer will become a friend of the client and assist with visits to relatives, local leisure venues, shopping etc.  We believe that this simple service could lead to a more acceptable Quality of Life for the person with the condition and fulfilment for the volunteer.

Conditions of the award:

  • The Project would not provide transport to take users to NHS or Social Work facilities
  • The Service would be made available at weekends and in the evenings.
